Bronze Age jug of the "Handmade White Painted Ware". Eastern Mediterranean, 1900 - 1650 BC. H 13.9 cm, ø body 10.6 cm. With pear-shaped body, small bow handle and small spout. Black painting on beige clay in the form of zigzag lines and hatched areas. With certificate of authenticity from Galerie Günter Puhze, Freiburg im Breisgau! Published in: D. Morris, The Art of Ancient Cyprus (1985) p. 53 pl. 54 (copy enclosed). Small chips to the muzzle, painting slightly rubbed in a few places, otherwise intact. Provenance: From the collection of R. L., Lower Saxony, acquired in 2009 from Galerie Puhze, Freiburg im Breisgau; from the collection of the famous English zoologist Desmond Morris, acquired between 1967 and 1976.
