Description
Large Etruscan impasto beak jug. 2nd half 7th century BC H 33.1 cm, ø body 19.8 cm. Bellied jug with rotelle and strap handles as well as twisted grooved decoration and plastically offset neck of dark brown impasto. The tiny graffito Π on the shoulder. Rare form of impasto pottery! Small chips to the foot and handle, handle broken and reattached, with larger color retouches, remains of sinter. Provenance: From a French private collection, acquired in 2022 from Ader, Hotel Drouot.
