Late Apulian red-figure kothon in the style of the Baltimore Painter. Circa 310 BC. H 13.3 cm, ø body 10.4 cm. Beaker with retracted neck and projecting mouth and two-part bow handle. With the exception of the underside, the clay base of the vessel has a brown coating. On the body, a richly decorated Eros sitting on a rock with a donation bowl - containing fruit and an ivy leaf - and a ball. Richly detailed in white and yellow. With a copy of the invoice from 1978! Tiny flaking to the white, otherwise intact. Provenance: Formerly in the German private collection of H. Herbst, acquired from Charles Ede, London in 1978.
