Early Lucanian red-figure calpis, in the manner of the Palermo painter. 400 - 390 BC H with added foot 24.1 cm, W with handles 22.3 cm, ø body 17.2 cm. The front with a graceful image of two young women playing ball, the left standing with jackets, the right sitting on a rock with sphendone. Missing foot replaced, broken in the upper area and reassembled, with small missing parts retouched at the broken edges, namely the face of the left woman. Provenance: From the West German collection K. V., acquired from L. Holland, Essen, in the 1980s.
