Hergé :

Hergé : Scout F.S.C. calendar, illustration in Indian ink and white gouache highlights entitled "La France pittoresque". In early 1940, the author produced six drawings for the 1941 calendar, which never saw the light of day. Four of these drawings were recovered in 1946 for the 1947 calendar. This is one of the two remaining drawings that were not used in the end. Composition showing an official visiting a scout camp and wondering about the strange behavior of the young boys, to which their leader replies that they are being attacked by fleas. Inscription in graphite under the drawing "La France pittoresque", "Un jeu scout?" and "non, les puces". Mentioned in "Chronologie d'une oeuvre Tome 5 1943/1949" (p. 171, P. Goddin, Ed. Moulinsart, 2004). The color indication tracing in pencil made by the master is included (torn). Signed. Very rare. Drawing size : 22.4 x 16.2. Paper dimensions : 26.3 x 20.3.
