Both 42 x 30 cm. Possibly used as a prelude or spin-off to Tardi's Guerre de Tranchées, published by Casterman, 1993. (*The middle plate on page 53 is identical to the opening plate). *Soufflot's reflections in these opening pages characterizes Tardi's tales of war, where there are no heroes or protagonists: 'Il croit peut-être que tout le monde le regarde, pour voir comme il fait bien son travail de petit Français héroïque et con! Il y croit!' (...) 'Il se doute pas un quart de seconde que moi j'ai peur, que je pisse dans mon bénard et que je supporte plus d'être enfermé dans cet engin de merde...et que je vois rien!'
