4 large engravings joined in two separate parts. Measure of the complete large map: 1002x1115 mm. Contemporary coloring. Few stains. Good specimen. This is probably the most important two panel wall map of South America produced in the 18th century. Largely based upon the earlier D'Anville map, this map depicts the continent in full with an inset of the Falkland Islands. A very ornate cartouche includes a native American, bird, alligator, monkey, treasures, waterfalls, fauna and a landscape. Very detailed map with many names of place and a table in the bottom regarding the various countries and their trades in the continent.

Three etchings on Imperial folio. Measure of the complete large map: 1305x780 mm. Margins. Outline contemporary coloring. Some little slight stains. Good copy. Fantastic self-assembly mural map of South America. The three large prints depict the southern, central and northern parts of the continent. D'Anville's maps have a very modern clarity and immediacy, incorporating the best geographic knowledge available in his time. The English and other geographers copied extensively from his maps. In the southern section, pretty cartouche.

Jacques Nicolas Bellin, royal hydrographer and engineer-geographer of the navy and of the Depot of Maps and Plans, compiled several atlases of nautical leaves for military and commercial use, here entirely reproduced on a smaller scale with the addition of new material (NMM). The maps are arranged geographically, starting with North America and the Antilles, followed by South America, then Asia, Africa, Europe and detailed coastal maps of France. Particularly interesting is the first volume devoted to North America, which also includes plans of Quebec, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, New Orleans and other major colonial cities. NMM 211 (list 580 maps); Nordenskiold 10; Phillips Atlases 638; Sabin 4555 6 parts in 5 vols, 4to, (315 x 240mm). 578 complete maps according to indexes, most double-page, some single and some folding, all with contemporary coloring (some leaves slightly browned, coloring sometimes imperfect at edges).
