LONG AND FINE OFFICER'S FLINTLOCK POMMEL PISTOL, with hair stripes, gray patina, fully granulated, slightly blunderbussed at the muzzle, signed on the right side "Boutet directeur artiste" and on the left side "Manufacture à Versailles", decorated with a double gold fillet at the muzzle and, on the thunderbolt, a lozenge, a garland of leaves and three pyramids; hallmarked right "JBG", center "Boutet" bar, above "NB" (Nicolas Boutet variant), left "LG". Engraved breech tail. Flat-body lock signed "Boutet Versailles", with serrated rim and swan-neck hammer engraved with foliage. Gold-trimmed scrolled sparkguard. Engraved roller spring, hammer and battery. Cut steel fittings, finely engraved and chased. Fruit urn trigger guard. Four-ring ramrod holder, decorated with foliage friezes. Trigger guard decorated with garlands. Adjustable trigger. Counterplate and guilloche screws. Walnut stock, finely squared, with long barrel and back decorated with a flower in a lozenge. Chased steel oval pommel with carved acanthus leaf frieze. Wooden stick with ivory tip and iron pastille. Length: 45.8 cm. Caliber: 11.7 mm. B.E. 1st Empire period. patina and slight traces of use.
