Pair of officer's flintlock pommel pistols. Round barrels with flats on top and thunderbolts, engraved breech shanks, signed "FA. Penel Frères". Signed locks and swan-neck hammers with flat engraved bodies, panelled grips, cut, engraved and chased iron fittings with foliage and flowers, long-eared pommels. Walnut mounts, partly carved long shafts, wooden ramrods. A.B.E. circa 1760. F and A PENEL, brothers. Working for the gendarmes in 1745. Active in 1745-1760 in Saint Etienne.
