In-folio of [16]-444-[16] pages, brown calf, richly decorated ribbed spine (17th century binding). The finest and most important work published by Antoine Gryphe, natural son of Sébastien. The elegance of the titles and the care taken with the typography make this a perfect specimen of the last great Lyonnais books of the 16th century. Paradin's memoirs constitute THE FIRST HISTORY OF LYON worthy of the name, and in return for his work, the author received a silver vaysselle offered by the city. Bound at the end, with separate title and pagination, the "Privilèges, franchises et immusnitez octroyé par les Roys aux Consuls, Eschevins, manans et habitans de la ville de Lyon, et à leur posterérité... recueillis par Claude de Rubis".
