Second edition, revised and enlarged in several places, with the addition of coats of arms or escartelages. Claude Paradin, born in Cuiseaux in 1512 and died in Beaujeu in 1573, was a French writer, author of books of emblems and historian. Born into a Burgundian family in 1512, the son of Claude Paradin, a merchant, and Claudine Anchemand, Claude Paradin was the younger brother of historian Guillaume Paradin; like him and two of his paternal uncles, he chose an ecclesiastical career. He was canon of the collegiate church of Notre-Dame in Beaujeu, near Lyon. He died there in 1573. A superb genealogy book, it features almost 950 heraldic coats of arms.
