Claude Paradin, born in Cuiseaux in 1512 and died in Beaujeu in 1573, was a French writer, author of books of emblems and historian. Born into a Burgundian family in 1512, the son of Claude Paradin, a merchant, and Claudine Anchemand, Claude Paradin was the younger brother of historian Guillaume Paradin; like him and two of his paternal uncles, he chose an ecclesiastical career. He was canon of the collegiate church of Notre-Dame in Beaujeu, near Lyon. He died there in 1573. A superb genealogy book, it features almost 950 heraldic coats of arms.
