Description

A percussion pistol M 1816 for the guard, by Maubeuge Smooth, browned (later) barrel in 17.5 mm caliber, converted percussion lock, on the lockplate maker's inscription "Manuf Roy de Maubeuge" and stamped crown/"C". Dark full stock with completely smooth brass furniture, side of lock marked "C G 24 I". Iron ramrod. Completely professionally reworked weapon. Length 35.5 cm. In 1849 France delivered 731 guard pistols to Denmark, which were adjusted in France. Of these weapons, 231 went to the cavalry, the rest to the mounted officers and non-commissioned officers of the artillery. See Lander, Französische Ordonnanzpistolen 1733 - 1870, p. 63, fig. 9.9.
