A very rare flintlock pistol for an officer of the Noble Guard signed Mazzocchi dating: Early 19th Century provenance: Stato Pontificio, Smoothbore, round, 16 mm cal. barrel, with octagonal breech and very short rib. Flintlock with lock plate signed "Fll. Mazzocchi", brass pan. Wooden, full stock (grain and restoration to the fore-end cap) with finely checkered butt and with spider-web carved base. Brass mounts, butt-plate with officer's initials and border engraved with floral motifs. Brass-tipped wooden ramrod.
