From the iconic Verve Vol. IX No. 35/36 published by Tériade under the title Les Dernières Œuvres d'Henri Matisse The most desirable lithograph made under Matisse's direction for a special issue of Verve devoted to Matisse's paper cuts. Published in 1958 by Mourlot Frères These works were made by the artist with papers colored with gouache, cut with scissors, and glued. They are presented here with drawings executed at the same time or during the previous period. Matisse composed the cover especially for this volume. These lithographic plates were printed during 1954 under his direction. The printing of the lithographs in colors by Mourlot Frères and that of the reproductions in heliogravure and the typography by the master printers Draeger Frères, was completed in Paris on July 28, 1958.
