André ARBUS (1903-1969)

Mahogany transformable dining table with rectangular top opening on a double mahogany open book base sheathed in brass slats with exposed screws in the middle and top sections, with four casters each (some damaged). Opening system with brass rings on both sides and a double hexagonal brass hinge. Height : 74,5 cm (open) - Length : 117,5 cm (open) - Depth : 91,5 cm Provenance : Former Jean-Marie TERRIN collection, since remained in the family. History: Jean-Marie TERRIN was the director of the Chantiers Navals de La Ciotat and he commissioned André ARBUS to build an entire villa on the heights of Aix in 1955, for the architecture and the entire furnishing. Mrs. Sylva BERNT was in charge of the sculptures of the water level in the garden and the chimney of this same residence.
