Russian billiard table. Art Deco, ca.1925. Mahogany wood. Use marks. Faults. In need of restoration. Measuremets: 90 x 170 x 100 cm. The aim of Russian billiards is the same as that of American billiards. To sink the balls in the holes. However, what makes Russian pyramid billiards an additional challenge is the size of the pockets and balls. Russian billiards has balls that are almost the exact size of the table used for the game. Billiards came to Russia thanks to Peter I "the Great". The sovereign discovered the game in the late 17th century during a visit to the Netherlands and was so impressed that the King of Holland gave the young Russian monarch a billiard table as a gift. The types of Russian billiards are: Free pyramid (American pyramid), Combined pyramid (Moscow pyramid or Sibirka), Dynamic pyramid (Neva pyramid) and Classic pyramid (Russian pyramid or 71 points) .
