The Sun at the sign of Lyon from which some parallels are drawn with... Louis XIII. King of France & Navarre, in his triumphant entry in his City of Lyon. Together a summary account of all that happened of remarkable in the aforementioned Entry of his Majesty, & of the most Illustrious Princess of the Earth, Anne of Austria, King of France & Navarre, in the aforementioned City of Lyon the 11. December 1622. Lyon, Jean Jullieron, 1623. In-folio of [1] f. title, [4] ff. pp. 3-180. Contemporary ivory vellum, smooth spine decorated with the handwritten title. Soiled vellum. Account of the celebrations given by the city of Lyon during the entry of Queen Anne of Austria on December 11, 1622. The illustration consists of a large title vignette with the arms of the city of Lyon, and 12 engraved plates, one of which is folding. [Bound in the suite :] Reception of the very Christian, very just and very victorious monarch Louys XIII [...] and of the very Christian, very just and very virtuous King Anne of Austria ; by the deans of the canons and counts of Lyon [...] Lyon, Jaques Roussin, 1623. 67 pp. 7 engraved plates of which 5 folding. Tear without missing a plate. Some light soiling in places. Ink stains on a plate of the 1st part. Rare and beautiful book of celebrations published on the occasion of the coming to Lyon of Louis XIII and Anne of Austria, placed under the theme of the Sun King (which will be more applied to his son Louis XIV). Just as the sun, lord of the planets, travels through the kingdom of the zodiac, so the king visits the different cities of his kingdom (here Lyon), protected by the sign of Leo. The second part describes the reception at the Jesuit College, followed by fireworks brilliantly illustrated in several engravings.
