CAMBODIA or THAILAND - c. 13th century Standing Buddha adorned Copper alloy. Height. 33,5 cm Provenance : Private collection G., Montpellier. The Buddha is standing, his hands make the double gesture of teaching, the monastic robe covers both shoulders. He is richly adorned with a tiara, necklace, shoulder bracelets and belt with pendants. The face is characteristic of late Khmer productions: almond-shaped eyes, pronounced superciliary arches, third eye and lippered lips. A ring is attached to the back that held a mandorla, now lost.
