Jean-Marie BONNASSIEUX (Panissières, 1810 - Paris, 1892). Monsignor Georges Darboy archbishop of Paris (1813-1871). Bronze with medal patina dated May 24, 1871 and incised with the mark of the founder F. BARBEDIENNE on the terrace. Height : 39,5 cm 39,5 cm - Width : 16 cm - Depth : 17 cm Our bronze is a reduced version of the sculpture placed on the tomb of the archbishop in the Saint-Georges chapel of the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral. A terracotta sketch of the sculpture is kept at the Musée d'Orsay under the reference RF3469. Provenance: - Madaba Gallery, Religious Art, 28 rue Bergère, Paris 9eme; - Sotheby's Paris, November 9, 2005, The Klaus Otto Preis Collection, lot 80; - Private collection.
