A CHINESE BRONZE FIGURE OF A WATER BUFFALO China, late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to early Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The finely cast bronze figure shows a reclining water buffalo, with its four legs tucked underneath the body, the tail and the head turned to the side. The bronze figure functioning as a brush rest as well as a water dropper with a small round opening on the animal’s back and an aperture in the water buffalo’s mouth. Condition: Fine condition with minor wear and tiny surface scratches. Repair to the bottom and a crack to the side of the animal’s face. Provenance: French private collection.
