In the centre of the composition is a knight with drawn sword riding on a grim steed with a snout adorned with feathers. The knight is wearing a suit with jacket and wide trousers with bias stripes, the sleeves are dark and on his head he wears a high, feathered hat. The landscape shows a small tree with fruits, a small pond and rounded mountains in the background. The dish belongs to the current of the "late figurative" of Montelupo, which has its greatest expansion during the first half of the seventeenth century, and for stylistic mode is related to the group of pointed noses.
