Topped with a mirror on the lower part and an oil on canvas depicting the Astrolabe and the Compass in Terre Australe on the upper part. 19th century 139 x 74.5 cm Cracks and accidents The Astrolabe and the Compass were Jean-François de la Pérouse's two frigates, chartered for his circumnavigation of the globe in 1785.
