Tureen with handles "Riemerschmid". Richard Riemerschmid for Meissen. 1903- 1924. Richard Riemerschmid1868 Munich - 1957 ibid. Porcelain, glazed and painted in underglaze blue. From the "Riemerschmid" dinner service. The bowl in pressed bulbous form, the outer wall with a dotted border in relief and two borders of stylized leaf decor as well as two flat handles with regular drip decor. The design of the lid adapted to the decoration of the bowl, in the middle a curved handle in regular drop decoration. Marked on the bottom by a sword mark in underglaze blue, embossed numeral "31", an arrow-shaped incised mark and a painter's numeral "52". First choice. Year of design: 1903-1905. Lit. Richard Riemerschmid 1868 Munich - 1957 ibid Visual designer, architect, co-founder of the reform style. Studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1888-90. In 1900/01 he designed the Munich Schauspielhaus. In 1903-05 he led the master class for arts and crafts at the Bavarian Trade Museum in Nuremberg. 1907-13 overall planning of the development of the first German garden city Dresden-Hellerau, 1909-13 garden city Nuremberg. In 1907 he was one of the founders of the Deutscher Werkbund, 1921-26 its chairman. 1913-24 director of the Munich School of Arts and Crafts, appointed privy councillor. 1926-31 Director of the Cologne Werkschulen.
