CÉSAR LÓPEZ OSORNIO (La Plata, Argentina, 1930-2015). Untitled, from the series "Floating Suns", 1995. Acrylic on canvas. Signed and dated on the back. With stamp on the back of the Galería Maria José Castellví, Barcelona. Size: 40 x 40 cm. Trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of La Plata, in 1960, César López Osornio received a scholarship to study in Japan for three years. There he learned Asian arts, oriental arts and landscape architecture, studied Zen philosophy and spent 45 days in a Buddhist temple. On his return, César López Osornio became a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in La Plata, as well as at the Faculty of Architecture of the Catholic University in the same city. In 1975, he travelled through Colombia, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, reflecting on the possibility of bringing together all Latin American artists. As a result of this idea, he held a first exhibition of these painters in Europe in 1992. Subsequently, in 1999, he founded the MACLA Museum of Contemporary Latin American Artists in Argentina. His work, which is classified as free geometry, does not adhere to a single movement, but is related to the Parisian Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel, as well as to the concepts of severity and rationality. López Osornio has participated in more than 300 solo and group exhibitions in his native country and around the world. He also exhibited his work in galleries and museums in Argentina, Venezuela, Japan, Colombia, France, Puerto Rico, Spain, Bulgaria, Bratislava and Italy, and produced works as a muralist, designer and landscape architect.

A historical figure of Spanish rock & roll, Barranco was a member of the legendary Estudiantes, Los Pekenikes and Los Flecos, but, uniquely, he recorded his first solo album at the age of forty-nine. José Barranco began in the world of music as a great follower of Elvis Presley. Given his passion for the American singer, he began to imitate him first as a hobby and then with professional aims. He founded the group Los Estudiantes in 1956, when he was at the Aeronautics School, together with Alberto González, José Fábregas and Adolfo Abril. This group, which underwent notable changes in its formation, disbanded in 1964, the year in which Barranco was called upon by the Pekenikes to take the place of Juan Pardo, who had left to join Los Brincos. With them he recorded some songs like "La tía vinagre", "El tururú" and "El vito", which preceded the group's best-known instrumental phase. In 1965, tired of having to do that repertoire, he founded Los Flecos with another Pekenike, the drummer Pablo Argote. They tried to compete with Los Brincos, but only released three EPs. He left the world of music and a long time later, in August 1987, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, he decided to record an album dedicated to his memory, the first tracks of which contained a tribute spoken of admiration: "In my early days I tried to imitate him... I'm still trying". He played all the instruments, it took him seven months to complete it and, in the end, the result was satisfactory. José Luis Álvarez released it on his Cocodrilo label and encouraged him to return to the stage. He did so sporadically, regrouping old friends under the meaningful stage name of Los Extudiantes. Los Amantes de Maria was a Spanish pop group from Barcelona. Members: Jordi Vila (drums), Javier Martín "Ninja" (keyboards), Miquel Montfort (guitar), Duddy Martínez (bass) and María Rodríguez-Rey (vocals). Active 1987 to 1993. The Communards were a British pop duo active from 1985 to 1988. They are most famous for their covers of "Don't Leave Me This Way" and "Never Can Say Goodbye".
