In 4°, 253 x 162 mm. Engraved frontispiece, engraved dedication on two sheets, "Explication des planches" 20 pp. at end of volume, 140 beautiful plates by Eisen, Boucher, Gravelot, Moreau, Leprince, Monnet, Parizeau et Saint-Gois, engraved by Baquoy, Basan, Binet, Duclos, de Ghendt, Helman, de Launay, Legrand, Lemire, Leroy, Leveau, de Longueil, Masquelier, Massard, Miger, Nee, Ponce, Rousseau et Saint-Aubin, a final plate with "Fin des Estampes" and date 1771. Splendid coeval full marbled leather binding, gilt triple-threaded frame to plates, five-nerved spine with gilt-decorated compartments and title on red leather tassel "Estampes des Metamorph.", slight abrasions and restorations to spine. Signature of possession to first guard sheet. § Les Metamorphoses d'Ovide. Paris, Prault, 1767-1771. In 4°, 248 x 185 mm. 4 vols. Vignettes on frontispieces, endpapers, illustrations at the opening of the different books, slight reddening, handsome contemporary marbled leather binding with 5-nerved spine dividing compartments decorated in gold and titles on red leather gussets, red boards. Ex libris "Count Cesare S. Martino della Motta" to the counterparts. The edition originates without illustrations; the volume previously described is precisely the one that would have illustrated the present work.
