Lot 59 - DEGAS Edgar, 1834-1917 Arabesque on the right leg, right hand close to the ground, left arm out. Also known as Première arabesque penchée. Proof in bronze with black patina, lost-wax casting A. A. Hébrard, copy no. 2/K (from an edition of 20 proofs numbered A to T). On the terrace: - stamp mark: Degas - founder's mark: CIRE/PERDUE/A. A. HÉBRARD - 2/K Height: 27.7 cm; Total width: 41.8 cm; Terrace width: 37.4 cm; Depth: 20 cm Weight: 3.234 kg. Produced from the brown wax model designed between 1882 and 1895 (Rewald dating). Proofs cast mainly between 1919 and 1937, according to the Hébrard archives. Our proof n°2/K is mentioned as unlocated in the repertory compiled by Joseph S. Czestochowski and Anne Pingeot in 2002.
