An Unusual English or Welsh Joined Oak Hooded Armchair. The rectangular fielded panel back enclosed by a flat back-sloped canopy top and paneled sides with boxed-in triangular elbow extensions. The canopy's arched rail carved with crouching demons either side flanking undulant serpents to the centre. The flat round-ended arms morticed to square front legs joining a lozenge carved front panel and fielded panel sides incorporating a side opening drawer hung on side groove runners and fitted with a wrought iron swing handle. The plank seat furbished with a later swab cushion covered in crimson jacquard woven fabric edged with piping. 58½'' (148 cm) high, 28'' (71 cm) wide, 22½'' (57 cm) deep.**

The tall padded rectangular backs and seats covered in cerise velvet enhanced with bands of gold braid, edged with brass studs and gold fringing. The uprights having carved scrolled foliate finials. The flat moulded arms on turned inverted baluster posts above baluster knopped legs united by peripheral stretchers and terminating on sledge feet with carved claw terminals to the front, 26½'' (143.5 cm) high, 24¾'' (63 cm) wide, 23½'' (60 cm) deep.

The back having three carved rails between moulded uprights surmounted by turned finials, with iron hinges to the base and adjustable ratchet supports either side. A Handsome Mid 17th Century Oak Armchair. The twinned scroll cresting rail carved with sweeping leaves and surmounted by three urn finials. The back panel enriched with scrolling stems of leaves and flowers featuring a fanned bloom to the top displayed against a cut-away punch-worked ground. The arms on round turned posts leading to a plank seat with moulded edge above a lunette carved front rail, elevated on turned columnar legs united by peripheral stretchers, 47'' (120 cm) high, 24'' (61 cm) wide, the seat 22'' (56 cm) high.**

A Fabulous Quality Mid 17th Century Oak Yorkshire Armchair attributed to the Halifax area, Circa 1640-60. The deep shaped cresting rail richly carved with a pair of voluted scrolls adorned with pendant leaves emanating from the coils above cross-hatching. The arcaded panel back inlaid with holly & bog-oak depicting a flowering plant issuing contre-partie marquetry blooms on sinewy scrolling stems incorporating a pair of birds to the top, framed within a decorative arch of foliate S-scrolls enriched with punchwork. The frame inlaid with twin chequer bands and flanked by scrolling 'ear-pieces'. The silhouette cut down-swept scroll end arms stamped with embellishments to the top edge, supported on cannon barrel turned posts leading down to a planked seat with chip carved ends, standing on cannon barrel turned legs united by peripheral stretchers. Fine colour & patination. 47'' (119.5 cm) high, 22¾'' (58 cm) wide, the seat 18'' (46 cm) high.**

A Rare & Imposing James I Carved Oak Armchair Circa 1620, possibly of Yorkshire origin. The broad top rail profusely carved with interlaced strap-work displayed against a recessed pitted ground. The back panel finely decorated with an intricate geometric knot of banded inlay to the centre, framed by an arch of carved flower-heads entwined by guilloche strapwork and embellished with punchwork. The uprights and base rail featuring flower head chains, with twisted strapwork looped around further flower heads to the spandrels. The scroll end arms gouge carved and stamped to the top edges and ornamented with wrythen whorls to the sides, resting on foliate carved urn knopped posts. The plank seat above lunette carved rails standing on baluster turned legs with turned terminals, united by peripheral stretchers, 48'' (122 cm) high, 23'' (59 cm) wide, the seat 20½'' (52 cm) high.**

In memory of Us, La beauté du geste", in parallel with the exhibition "Victor Hugo s'escrime", Maison Victor Hugo, Paris, April 27 - September 15, 2024, inaugurated in the presence of sabre player Sara Balzer, world number one, model for the sculpture La Victoire, and Sofyane Mehiaoui, playmaker for the French wheelchair basketball team, model for a sculpture representing the athlete in a dunk (basket shot balanced on a wheel), Stéphane Simon defines his initial project as follows: "A set of ten human-scale sculptures representing five women and five men from every continent, five Olympic athletes and five Paralympic athletes, to be installed side by side on an equal footing for the first time in the history of the Games. Ten humanist values, taken from the Olympic and Paralympic Charters, are associated with the statues, in which athletes and visitors from all over the world will be able to project themselves, identify or recognize themselves. In Memory of Us is a unifying, mobilizing and hopeful project that promotes equality between men and women, between able-bodied and disabled people, diversity, friendship, unity, trust, excellence and surpassing oneself, access to progress, particularly digital progress for the greatest number, sustainable development and living together in a climate of peace.
