A ceremonial cane with ebony shaft, the milord pommel in 18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold embossed with foliage in the rocaille style, engraved with the AOF monogram on one side and the African continent on the other. It is topped by a coat of arms surrounded by two phylacteries engraved "ZARMAN DAULAR USMANIYYA - IMPERIAL HIGHNESS GARSAN FULANIN". The ferrule also in 18k yellow gold. Signed and numbered. Height : 98 cm 98 cm - Gross weight: 480 g (minor knocks, missing nail cover) This cane belonged to Antonio Deinde Fernandez, diplomat and businessman from Niger, permanent representative of the Central African Republic to the United Nations.

Height 63.5 - Width: 49 cm at sight (tiny folds and small tears at edges) Provenance : Collection of Macelle Lloret, director of the Red Cross in Oran, aunt of the current owner, friend of the Saint-Laurent family in Oran. Yves Mathieu-Saint-Laurent discovered theater in Oran during a performance of L'Ecole des femmes directed by Louis Jouvet in 1950. Already an excellent draughtsman, fascinated by set and costume design, the young Yves Saint Laurent hesitated whether to turn to the world of fashion or theater. He enrolled at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de Couture in Paris before joining Christian Dior in 1955. That same year, the designer created the sets for the ballet Musique de Foire, a three-act play by Madame Christiane Favre-Jaume which premiered at the Ballets de Monte Carlo in March 1956. Some of these set designs are preserved at the Musée Fondation Yves Saint Laurent in Paris.

CARABINIERI HELMET AND CUIRASS SET MODEL 1811. -Helmet model 1810. Two-piece shell with high, thin crest. Brass neck cover and visor, encircled by a brass snap ring. Embossed crest decorated with a series of diminishing gadroons. Mask adorned with two branches of foliage and a guilloché border with a hook at the base. Cut-iron front band, partly bordered, topped by the "N" under the crown, held in place by a fleurette rivet. Iron back band. Scaled iron chinstraps on leather. Embossed, radiating iron rosettes, enriched in the center with a brass star. Scarlet horsehair caterpillar. A.B.E. with service marks (accident, loose nape-cap held in place by its two rivets, restoration to the iron bands and top of the crest, missing inner cap). -Cuirass. Iron front and backplate covered with brass leaf, edged with brass stud rivets. Leather shoulder straps (not original), with brass chains and clips, leather tie-rods. Leather belt (not original). With heavy canvas quilted lining (remnants on backplate, reinforced with ticking on breastplate). Stamped "AP" (Ateliers de Paris) on the breastplate and backplate. Presented on a wooden stand. Accompanied by a pair of rifleman's epaulets (early manufacture, but later than the model). SRI LANKA / INDONESIE / COROMANDEL - Rare ebony child's armchair. Caned seat and twisted uprights, finely carved with flowers. Probably Ceylon, 17th century, H +-64cm. Note: According to Jan Veenendaal, the carved floral decoration on this type of ebony furniture was inspired by Dutch floral engravings. For example, Den Blomhof by Crispijn de Passe de Jonge (first edition 1614). He also notes that the flowers are inspired by the Dutch ear-lobed silverware (kwab) of the Van Vianen brothers, which became very popular in Holland around 1660.
