An 18th century French enamel toothpick box, by George-Antoine Croze, Paris 1781, of oblong form, cover and base with a guilloché enamel panel of olive green colour, within a white opaque band, and a 'pearl' on spiral helix border, the sides also decorated with similar design and roundels surrounded by laurel wreaths, interior of the cover and base both struck with French discharge marks, date letter and maker's marks, side stamped with small discharge mark (1781-1789), inventory mark 448, in fitted case 9.3 x 2.6 cm, 67.6 grams. Purchased from S.J.Phillips
