VICO MAGISTRETTI (Milan, 1920 - 2006) for Artemide. Gaudi" chair, 1973. Molded plastic, fiberglass reinforced, green finish. Measurements: 73.6 x 55.8 x 48.26 cm; 44.45 cm seat height. Vico Magistretti designed the "Gaudi" chair for Artemide in the 1970s. He named it after the Catalan genius, in honor of his architecture. The fluidity and softness of the chair's design is inspired by the organicity of Gaudí's architecture. It is also noteworthy for its adaptability to both exteriors and interiors. Vico Magistretti was an Italian industrial designer, dedicated to furniture and architecture. He graduated from the Milan Polytechnic in 1945, and became a follower of Ernesto Nathan Rogers. During the 1950s he devoted himself to the design of mass-produced furniture. Some of his lamps are famous, such as the so-called Eclisse. Some of his designs are present in important museums in Europe, the United States and Japan. The MoMA in New York houses objects by Magistretti in its permanent collection.
