A SILVER-MOUNTED KNIFE AND FORK SET probably Dutch, 17th Century, w ith carved figural ebony handles, engraved silver ferrules and steel blades, the knife blade with cutler's mark of a fleur-de-lys, in fitted card case. 23cm long Accompanied by a letter to George Alexander Eugene Douglas Haig, 2nd Earl Haig, dated 18th November 1966, detailing the gift of the set from Claud Phillimore, in which he details receipt of the set from his grandmother, Mrs A B Haig, and relates the tradition that the set belonged to Mary Queen of Scots.
