A PAIR OF CELADON-GROUND BLUE & WHITE ‘AQUATIC LIFE’ PORCELAIN TEACUPS AND SAUCERS, 18TH CENTURY A PAIR OF CELADON-GROUND BLUE & WHITE ‘AQUATIC LIFE’ PORCELAIN TEACUPS AND SAUCERS, 18TH CENTURY China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Each dish and cup decorated to the interior in underglaze blue with crabs and fish swimming among seaweeds and aquatic plants, the exteriors incised with foliage and covered in a celadon glaze (4). Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1970 and has remained in the family ever since. Condition: Good condition with minor wear and firing irregularities. Minor fritting and nibbling along the rims. One saucer with a starfish crack. One cup with a short hairline-crack to the mouth rim.
