A PAIR OF FAMILLE VERTE PORCELAIN DISHES, KANGXI PERIOD A PAIR OF FAMILLE VERTE PORCELAIN DISHES, KANGXI PERIOD China, 1662-1722. Each dish finely painted in blue, green, yellow, aubergine, black, and iron-red, with an equestrian accompanied by his attendant against a background comprising a table decorated with precious antiques and a pavilion with fences, and the ‘four accomplishments’ in the upper section (a qin, a book, a chessboard, and scroll paintings), all within a circular frame decorated with scrolls. The upper rim decorated with floral cartouches alternating with sets of precious antiques. The reverse, each with floral sprays, and an underglaze blue censer mark within double lines at the recessed base. Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1970 and has remained in the family ever since. Condition: Good condition with light wear, rubbing to the enamels, and firing flaws including dark spots, minor pitting, and one dish with fritting to the upper rim. One dish with a hairline to the rim and a star crack to the base, the other dish with a star crack to the base. Weight: 280 g and 296 g Dimensions: Diameter 22.6 cm and 22.5 cm
