A FINE YELLOW AND CELADON JADE CONG, SHANG DYNASTY A FINE YELLOW AND CELADON JADE CONG, SHANG DYNASTY China, 1600-1046 BC. With plain sides and narrow collars encircling the central aperture, the translucent stone of a yellowish-celadon tone with cloudy white inclusions and few russet specks. Provenance: Belgian private collection, acquired in the Dutch trade. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, little nibbling, and thick malachite encrustation to the interior. Fine, smooth polish. The stone with few natural fissures. The present jade cong is an exceptional piece, featuring a plain form and a fine mineral of a striking yellow and pale celadon tone with high transparency and white speckles. The interior has thick malachite encrustations from burial, most likely from contact with a metal piece.
