A TIBETAN IRON FIGURE OF AMITAYUS A TIBETAN IRON FIGURE OF AMITAYUS Tibet, 20th century. Consisting of two parts, the deity seated cross-legged in dhyanasana on a beaded lotus base, with the hands holding a baluster vase issuing a lotus and three tassels, adorned in beaded jewelry, dressed in a voluminous dhoti pooling beautifully at the base. The deity with a serene expression detailed with downcast eyes, full lips, and ears suspending large pendulous earrings, the hair arranged in a tall chignon behind a foliate crown. The figure resting on a tiered plinth supported by snow lions and wrathful deities, the throne-back with a mandorla surmounted by a makara head, supported by birds and columns with foliate vines. Provenance: A private collection in Vienna, Austria. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and casting irregularities. Few dents, nicks, scratches, tiny losses, and minor warping. Weight: 3,791 g Dimensions: Height 34.5 cm
