A TIBETAN AGATE BUDDHA EYE BEAD, 19TH CENTURY OR EARLIER A TIBETAN AGATE BUDDHA EYE BEAD, 19TH CENTURY OR EARLIER Himalayan region, presumably Tibet, 19th century or earlier. Carved in the form of two conjoined circles, drilled through the center for suspension as a pendant, the finely polished stone of a dark amber color with white and russet bands. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe. Condition: Very good condition, few small nicks, and natural flaws and fissures. Weight: 5.5 g Dimensions: Length ca. 2.2 cm
