A BACTRIAN BANDED AGATE AMULET, LATE 3RD TO EARLY 2ND MILLENIUM BC A BACTRIAN BANDED AGATE AMULET, LATE 3RD TO EARLY 2ND MILLENIUM BC Ancient Region of Bactria, 3rd-2nd Millennium BC. The amulet is conically shaped at the bottom, with a horizontal groove separating it from a protruding curved section pierced for suspension. The opaque stone of a dark gray color with a broad cream band. Condition: Good condition with expected age-related wear and encrustations. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
