A LARGE LACQUERED WOOD FIGURE OF BUDDHA, BURMA, 19th CENTURY A LARGE LACQUERED WOOD FIGURE OF BUDDHA, BURMA, 19th CENTURY Burma, 19 th century. The tall figure standing in samabhanga on a lotus dais, holding a round vessel and cover with both hands. Wearing a layered sanghati which flares to the sides, his face is set with a serene expression with arching brows, downcast eyes, a broad nose, slender, red-lacquered lips forming a calm smile, and his hair arranged in tight nodes around his cylindrical ushnisha. Condition: Good condition with wear, natural flaws, age cracks, remnants of gilt lacquer, nicks, chips, and few losses. The separately carved ushnisha finial lost. Weight: 8.6 kg Dimensions: Height 99 cm
