A CELADON GLAZED AND CARVED ‘LOTUS’ PORCELAIN CHARGER A CELADON GLAZED AND CARVED ‘LOTUS’ PORCELAIN CHARGER Southeast Asia, presumably Thailand, 13th to 15th century. Heavily potted, rising from a short foot to a notched rim, the interior carved with a central lotus blossom radiating waves and framed by a lobed line to the rim. The body covered in a crackled celadon glaze pooling in the recesses, and continuing over the foot ring where an unglazed ring on the base has burnt to a purple-cream during the firing. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe. Condition: Good condition with minor wear, surface scratches, small repairs and touchups to the foot ring, and soil encrustations. Weight: 2,234 g Dimensions: Diameter 34.2 cm
