A BRONZE ARM BRACER, DONG SON CULTURE A BRONZE ARM BRACER, DONG SON CULTURE Northern Vietnam, 5th-1st century BC. Of tubular form, tapering towards one end, and applied with a buffalo-head ornament. The bronze with a rich patina and encrustations of malachite. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe. Condition: Very good condition with wear commensurate to age. Casting irregularities, tiny losses to one edge, and signs of weathering and erosion, all as expected from ancient Dong Son excavations.
