A FINE TRIPTYCH SCROLL PAINTING WITH HOSSU, SKULL AND RUYI SCEPTER A FINE TRIPTYCH SCROLL PAINTING WITH HOSSU, SKULL AND RUYI SCEPTER Japan, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Gouache, gold, and ink on silk, with brocade fabric coated paper frames and mounted as hanging scrolls with wood handles. The first depicting a fly whisk (hossu), sealed and inscribed. The second a skull amid bamboo below a poem about beautiful lady and a hero, sealed, the lower area further inscribed shiwuwei yinshi xu (shiwuwei hermit), and sealed Xue, shiwuwei yinshi. The third depicting a ruyi scepter. Condition: With age-related wear, creases, tiny losses to edges, minor staining, browning and some tears to the mounts. Provenance: French trade. Dimensions: Size incl. mounting 199 x 30.5 cm, 199 x 49 cm and 199 x 30.5 cm
