Ghom rug. Iran, first half of the twentieth century. Hand knotted wool. It has marks of use and wear. Measurements: 206 x 135 cm. Persian hand-knotted rug, with a design of floral ornaments that sprout from a vase placed in the compositional center, on a navy blue field. Red, ochre, beige, blue and white tones predominate. These carpets are knotted in the sacred city of Ghom, in central Persia. The material used to make them is silk, which makes them thin and compact. These carpets are very well elaborated and, in some cases, are decorated in great detail.
