AN ANTLER NETSUKE OF A CHINESE IMMORTAL AN ANTLER NETSUKE OF A CHINESE IMMORTAL Unsigned Japan, 18th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Finely carved from a hollow section of antler, the immortal holding a long staff with a craggy knob and a basket, wearing heavy robes falling in voluminous folds incised with cloud and crosshatched patterns. His benevolent expression animated by his dimpled cheeks and incised short beard. The underside with a plug to the natural hollow of the antler. Two functional himotoshi to the back, the larger hole generously excavated to accommodate the knot. HEIGHT 8.6 cm Condition: Very good condition with only minor wear.
