Ɏ AN IVORY NETSUKE OF TOBOSAKU SENNIN HOLDING A PEACH Ɏ AN IVORY NETSUKE OF TOBOSAKU SENNIN HOLDING A PEACH Unsigned Japan, 18th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Finely carved, the balanced composition depicting the sennin holding a large peach attached to a branch, looking upwards as he reaches with his left arm to scratch his head in awe at the heavens. Generously excavated himotoshi to the back. HEIGHT 8.9 cm Condition: Good condition with minor wear, natural age cracks, and one of the feet with a repair to the edge. Provenance: Collection Gabor Orszagh, Budapest, Hungary. Trade Certificate: The trade certificate for the sale of this lot within the EU has been granted (permit number AT 24-B-0134). This item contains ivory, rhinoceros horn, tortoise shell, and/or some types of tropical wood and is subject to CITES when exporting outside the EU. It is typically not possible to export such items outside of the EU, including to the UK.
