A WOOD NETSUKE OF A STANDING HORSE, EDO PERIOD A WOOD NETSUKE OF A STANDING HORSE, EDO PERIOD Unsigned Japan, 18 th to early 19 th century A wood netsuke of a horse depicted in a typical posture, its head lowered towards the ground, the long, twisting neck with incised mane. The tail sweeps around the back within the two himotoshi. The wood bearing a fine patina. HEIGHT 5.1 cm Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and a few tiny nicks here and there. Provenance: Italian private collection, acquired from Pierre-Eric Becker, Cannes, on 28 May 2002. Austrian private collection, acquired from the above.
