A FOUR-CASE LACQUER INRO WITH HORSES AND A BRASS NETSUKE A FOUR-CASE LACQUER INRO WITH HORSES AND A BRASS NETSUKE Unsigned Japan, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Of upright rectangular form and oval sectional, the four-case inro decorated in gold and copper hiramaki-e and nashiji on a roiro ground, depicting two horses frolicking under a pine tree, the reverse with three further horses grouped together. The interior compartments of nashiji with gold fundame edges. The brass netsuke of tubular form with rounded edges, one side with a screw-on cover, and finely incised with floral sprigs and butterflies. LENGTH 82.8 cm WEIGHT 82.6 g Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, few nicks, and scratches.
