A SHIBUICHI TSUBA WITH CHORYO AND HANKAI A SHIBUICHI TSUBA WITH CHORYO AND HANKAI Signed with a kakihan Japan, 18th-19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) The shibuichi tsuba of nagamarugata shape, with a kozuka hitsu-ana, finely worked in gold, suaka, and shibuichi takazogan, as well as kebori engavings to depict Choryo (Zhang Liang) and Hankai (Fan Kuai), from the legend of the Hong Gate Feast, reading a scroll. The reverse carved with a gushing waterfall and bamboo with leaves inlaid in gold. Signed with a kakihan (artist’s cursive monogram). HEIGHT 6 cm, LENGTH 5.2 cm WEIGHT 84.9 g Condition: Very good condition with minor wear. Provenance: From an old French private collection. An old collector’s label affixed to the back.
