MORI HOMEI: A PAIR OF BRONZE FIGURES OF BOYS HOLDING KORO, MEIJI MORI HOMEI: A PAIR OF BRONZE FIGURES OF BOYS HOLDING KORO, MEIJI By Mori Homei, signed Mori Homei Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) Each portraying a young boy standing gracefully on a base supported by four feet, with one foot elegantly turned to the side. Dressed in finely cast robes, showcasing a motif of a dragon amidst swirling clouds, with one hand, the boys lift their robes, while the other hand holds a large koro (incense burner), which is embellished with four handles and a domed cover crowned by a Shishi lion. Note the different expressions on the boy's faces, with silvered eyes and the intricate detail of their partially pulled up hair, fashioned into two chignons. The bases with borders of cloud scroll and signed MORI HOMEI. Finished by reddish-brown patination. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and minimal casting flaws as well and tiny nicks here and there. One connecting screw between one boy figure and koro missing. Provenance: Spanish private collection. Weight: 4,050 g and 4,253 g Dimensions: Height c. 43 cm each
