GIOVANNI DOMENICO CERRINI KNOWN AS THE CAVALIER PERUGINO (circle of) The sorceress Circe Oil on canvas, 145x103 cm The painting is stylistically approachable to the production of the second half of the seventeenth century by the painter Gian Domenico Cerrini known as Cavalier Perugino to whom refer the sensual presentation of the sorceress with the very clear epidermis. Of note is the erotically mischievous manner in which Cerrini treats the theme, and the way in which he effectively restores the devious and evil character of the Homeric character.
