Ten years later, Dick Van Dyke had his own variety show, which in spite of only lasting one year, won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. Carl guest starred as a detached head. The hat hangs on the wall, where Reiner asks for it. Van Dyke places it on his head causing Reiner to exclaim 'Don't I look like John Wayne!'
